With the participation of Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor's Assistant Sergey Kiryanov, a solemn ceremony was held to name the State Educational Institution "Rzhavskaya Kindergarten - Basic School" after the Georgian, Soviet poet, participant of the Great Patriotic War Mirza Gedeonovich Gelovani.

The solemn event was also attended by the district leadership, representatives of public organizations, schoolchildren, and local residents. The honored guests of the celebration were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus Valery Kvaratskhelia, representatives of the embassy and the Georgian diaspora in Belarus, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs Tengiz Dumbadze.

During the solemn events, Prosecutor's Assistant Sergey Kiryanov made a presentation on the investigation of the criminal case of genocide in the Beshenkovichi district.

"The criminal case on the genocide committed by Nazi criminals and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war period against peaceful citizens of our country was initiated by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus for the sake of social and historical justice, to eliminate blank spots in history and prevent its distortion," the prosecutor's employee noted in his opening speech.

The analysis of archival data conducted by the district prosecutor's office, and the circumstances established during the investigation of the criminal case, indicate that from the first days of the occupation, a peculiar occupation regime began to be established in the district. This was a system of political, economic, and military measures aimed at liquidating the social and state system, plundering national wealth and resources, enslaving and destroying the population. The destruction of peaceful residents of the villages of Sloboda and Bortniki, Ulla, Ostrovno, as well as the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi itself, where about 6,000 people became victims, was accompanied by particular atrocities.

The Beshenkovichi District Prosecutor's Office on the criminal case:

•interrogated more than 40 citizens, including 11 prisoners forcibly removed from the territory of the BSSR;

•25 persons recognized as victims of German-fascist invaders and their accomplices;

•inspected 19 burial sites of civilians, including 6 alleged (previously unaccounted for) burials (located near the villages of Sloboda, Chanovichi, Ozerki, the agro-towns of Bocheikovo and Rzhavka, as well as within the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi), search operations are planned, including excavations in 3 such places, from September to October of this year, excavations of a burial site near the villages of Sloboda and Bortniki, in the so-called "foxholes" tract, will be carried out;

•2 places of forced detention of the population were established (a camp near the villages of Sloboda and Bortniki, a prison in the urban settlement of Beshenkovichi).

•inspections of settlements in the Beshenkovichi district completely and partially destroyed by German occupiers and their accomplices were carried out. 111 such inspections were conducted, with on-site visits and recording of exact coordinates

In his closing remarks, Sergey Kiryanov noted, - "that the ongoing socio-political events, aggressive policies based on revived nationalistic views and ideas, aimed at distorting historical truth, dictate the need to preserve continuity between generations and the memory of the people through understanding history".
