Most Common Mistakes by Children and Their Parents That Facilitate the "Work" of Cyber Scammers
Children often make mistakes because:
- They share personal data, not understanding that an account is part of their identity.
- They believe in "easy money" — bonuses, sweepstakes, donations for reposts.
- They communicate with strangers, thinking that "everyone is familiar online."
- They hide their accounts and publications from their parents.
- They are afraid to tell adults if something goes wrong.
Parents also make mistakes:
- They do not teach digital hygiene, believing that "children will figure it out themselves."
- They do not enable parental controls — although they can block up to 70% of suspicious links.
- They store card data without protection, do not limit the limits on children's cards.
- They do not track a child's purchases in games and marketplaces.
- They scold for mistakes instead of explaining how to protect themselves.
Advice: Instead of prohibitions — dialogue. Instead of fear — knowledge.
