Rural Gatherings and Information Campaign in Beshenkovichi District
Employees of the Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations, together with the Head of Affairs of the Verkhovskiy Rural Executive Committee, Zhanna Sergeevna Kitsar, conducted an information campaign among the population in the Verkhovskiy Rural Council. As part of this campaign, two rural gatherings were held with the residents of the agrotown of Verkhove.
In their speeches to the residents, employees of the district department for emergency situations and the rural council informed them about the current operational situation with fires and outlined their main causes. One of the main topics of the speeches was the issue of fires in ecological systems, including peat bog fires, which are relevant for this region.
Peat fires in the initial stage may occur without visible signs, but as the fire develops, it emits a suffocating unpleasant smell of burning, and deep burns appear in the soil. Significant material and human resources are required to extinguish a developed fire.
To prevent peat fires, various preventive measures must be carried out in advance in areas where peat is deposited, including restricting access for unauthorized persons during dry periods, preventing the burning of dry vegetation, and so on. Timely reporting by citizens plays an important role in the successful extinguishment of peat fires.
At the end of the event, Deputy Head of Department Kuzminich Sergey Alexandrovich answered questions from the public, distributed visual aids, reminded of fire safety requirements in recreation areas, and provided emergency service numbers.
