                                                    PRESS RELEASE

Technical inspectors of the Federation of Trade Unions to check compliance with temperature regimes at enterprises

Technical labor inspectors of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus regularly monitor the implementation of labor protection legislation at enterprises and organizations. During the cold season, special attention is paid to compliance with temperature regimes in production facilities and workshops, the condition of sanitary and domestic facilities, and the provision of employees with special clothing and footwear. Inspections aimed at identifying violations of temperature conditions at workplaces will begin on December 1. Trade union raid groups will conduct monitoring at enterprises in all regions.

In addition, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus operates a permanent "hotline" that allows for the prompt identification of shortcomings and violations of labor protection rules and norms, and timely measures to eliminate them. Any employee can report violations by calling (8-017) 203-90-48 (from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM). Technical labor inspectors are ready to visit the site and verify the information received through the hotline.

Last year, during trade union monitoring of temperature regimes at workplaces, 1,781 violations were identified. Employers were issued 895 recommendations for their elimination. At some enterprises, employees were not provided with insulated workwear and footwear. Not everywhere were points on additional breaks included in local documents. Not only heating areas but also dining areas were not equipped.

sanitary and domestic premises. The monitoring covered 4,696 enterprises.

It should be noted that the temperature regime is observed at most enterprises. Collective agreements and internal regulations of organizations include provisions for granting additional regulated breaks for employees to warm up in cases where it is impossible to maintain the temperature regime in accordance with sanitary standards, as well as for work in unheated premises or outdoors in winter. Adequate sanitary and domestic conditions have been created, rooms for warming up and eating have been equipped, heating resources are available, and some organizations have purchased heat generators.
