Sustainable Development Goals
On September 25, 2015, UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals (hereinafter - SDGs) aimed at eradicating poverty, preserving the planet's resources, and ensuring well-being for all. Each of the 17 goals includes a number of indicators that must be achieved within 15 years. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires the joint efforts of governments, the private sector, civil society, and the world's population.
To coordinate the efforts of the Republic of Belarus in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated May 25, 2017, No. 181 "On the National Coordinator for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" established the institution of the National Coordinator for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
The National Coordinator for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals is Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Zayats. He was appointed National Coordinator by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated February 21, 2022.
The National Coordinator for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals organizes the consideration of various aspects of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, makes recommendations for improving this process, conducts activities to promote the Sustainable Development Goals, and annually reports to the President on the progress of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The National Coordinator for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals represents the Republic of Belarus at the international level, reporting on progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. At the level of the leadership of relevant government bodies and regions, the Council for Sustainable Development has been formed. From the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Minister - Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Belarus A.A. Tarasenko is a member of the Council.
Indicators of Sustainable Development Goals delegated to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, taking into account the National Reporting Platform
SDG 2 "End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture":
2.2.1. Prevalence of stunting among children under five years of age;
2.2.2. Prevalence of malnutrition among children under five years of age, by type (wasting or obesity).
SDG 3 "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages": 3.1.1. Maternal mortality ratio (per 100,000 live births);
3.1.2. Proportion of births attended by skilled health personnel;
3.2.1. Child mortality rate (per 1,000 live births);
3.2.2. Neonatal mortality rate (per 1,000 live births);
3.3.1. Number of new HIV infections per 1,000 uninfected population, by sex, age and key populations;
3.3.2. Tuberculosis incidence per 100,000 population;
3.3.3. Malaria incidence per 1,000 population;
3.3.4. Hepatitis B incidence per 100,000 population;
3.4.1. Mortality from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases (per 100,000 population);
3.4.2. Mortality from suicide (per 100,000 population)
3.3.5. Number of people requiring treatment for "neglected" tropical diseases;
3.5.1.1. Total number of people seeking medical care in healthcare organizations due to substance abuse;
3.5.2. Alcohol abuse (defined in accordance with national per capita alcohol consumption for persons aged 15 years and older) in liters of pure alcohol per calendar year;
3.6.1. Mortality from road traffic accidents (per 100,000 population);
3.7.1. Proportion of women of reproductive age (15 to 49 years) whose family planning needs are met by modern methods;
3.7.2. Adolescent birth rate (for ages 10 to 14 years and 15 to 19 years) per 1,000 women in that age group;
3.8.1. Coverage of essential health services;
3.8.2. Proportion of the population with a large share of health expenditure in total household expenditure or income (percentage);
3.9.1. Mortality from indoor and outdoor air pollution;
3.9.2. Mortality from lack of safe water, safe sanitation and hygiene (from lack of safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services for all);
3.9.3. Mortality from unintentional poisoning (per 100,000 population);
3.a.1.1. Prevalence of tobacco use among persons aged 16 years and older (percentage);
3.b.1. Proportion of the target population covered by immunization with all vaccines included in national programs;
3.b.2. Total official development assistance directed to medical research in key health sectors;
3.b.3. Proportion of health facilities with a constant stock of essential, necessary and affordable medicines;
3.c.1. Number of health workers per capita and their distribution;
3.d.1. Capacity to comply with the International Health Regulations (IHR) and preparedness for public health emergencies.SDG No. 5 "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls":
5.6.2.1. Existence of laws and regulations guaranteeing women and men aged 15 years and older full and equal access to sexual and reproductive health care services and information and education in this area.
SDG No. 6 "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all":
6.b.1. Proportion of local administrative units with established policies and procedures for citizen participation in water and sanitation management.
SDG No. 7 "Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all":
7.1.2. Access to clean energy sources and technologies in households.
SDG No. 11 "Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable":
11.7.1. Average share of built-up urban area that is open public space for all, disaggregated by sex, age and disability;
11.6.2. Annual mean levels of fine particulate matter (PM10 class) in the atmosphere of selected cities
