The situation around Belarus is not getting any calmer. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the approval of decisions on state border protection for 2026, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We have always been in a very serious situation. Today, unfortunately, there are no tendencies for it to become calmer. Looking at the map, we see that we are practically surrounded by military units from all sides. The only window to the east is with the Russian Federation, where things are a bit easier for us. But I wouldn't say so, especially in connection with the recent events in Ukraine, when drones can fly into your territory from who knows where. Let's be frank, we haven't learned to react to all these incursions 100% yet, and we haven't learned to destroy them 100%. I don't know if 100% is possible. But we must strive for it. We will talk about this too," the head of state emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that the approval of decisions on state border protection at the highest level at the beginning of the year is a good military tradition that has been established for many years. "Now this (countering border security threats. - BELTA note) is more relevant than ever. Perhaps more relevant than other military threats. As I already said, because our border guards are constantly on combat alert. They have no other readiness. Always full combat readiness. They are ready to work as in wartime. Because on the last meters, as we used to say, of our Motherland, they are entrusted with the honor and right to walk," the President noted.

The Head of State asked to be briefed on the current border situation, the planned actions for the current year, and the necessary measures in this regard.
