It has become known who will represent the Vitebsk region in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov, the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Sergey Levkovich, members of the presidium and the regional executive committee. 371 deputies out of 679 gathered in the large hall of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, having come from all corners of the Dvina region. Candidates for Members of the Council of the Republic from the Vitebsk region acquainted those present with their biographies and programs.
Among the eight candidates are well-known, respected people, talented leaders with outstanding organizational skills. The important mission of connecting the region from which they were nominated with the highest echelons of power in the country, ministries, and departments will be entrusted to them.
According to the deputies of the basic-level local Councils, the following colleagues possess such qualities.
This is Ilya Ikan, General Director of Polotsk-Steklovolokno Open Joint Stock Company. The head of the city-forming enterprise was nominated by the Verkhnedvinsk and Polotsk districts.
The Vitebsk, Gorodok, Liozno, and Shumyly districts will be represented in the Council of the Republic by Gleb Lapitsky, Director of the State Institution "Vitebsk Cultural Center".
The interests of the residents of the regional center will be delegated to Irina Levkovich, Head of the Main Department of Trade and Services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and a current member of the upper house of parliament.
The candidacy of Natalia Markovich, Chairman of the Ushachi District Council of Deputies, from the Glubokoye, Dokshitsy, Lepel, and Ushachi districts, was approved.
Sergey Meleshkin, Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, will represent the Braslav, Miory, Postavy, and Sharkovshchina districts in the Senate.
Andrey Sidorov, Director of Private Unitary Enterprise "Vitstroytekhmash", was elected as a nominee from the Beshenkovichi, Senno, Tolochin, and Chashniki districts.
Boris Tikhomirov, Head of the Orsha Carriage Depot of the unitary enterprise "Minsk Branch of Belarusian Railway", will represent the interests of the residents of the Dubrovno and Orsha districts in the Senate.
And Elena Furs, Director of the Novopolotsk branch of the Belarusian Republican Unitary Insurance Enterprise "Belgosstrakh", will represent the residents of Novopolotsk and the Rossony district.
In a secret ballot, all eight candidates were elected members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation. Alexander Subbotin congratulated them on their election as members of the Council of the Republic.
Alexander Losyakin, member of the Central Commission for Elections and Republican Referendums:
– According to the Electoral Code, a candidate for membership in the Council of the Republic may be a citizen of Belarus who has reached the age of 30 and has resided in the territory of the respective region for at least five years. All nominated candidates meet these requirements. The Central Commission considers the nomination of candidates for membership in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation from the Vitebsk region to be legitimate.
