Student work crews are labor, friendship, and invaluable experience
The results of the third labor semester of 2025 have been summarized. The solemn ceremony, which gathered 200 student squad members, commanders and commissars of territorial headquarters, veterans of the youth movement of Belarus, and heads of organizations hosting student squads, took place at the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education. Among the participants of the event was Elena Babaren, the first secretary of the Beshenkovichi District Committee of the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union."
The interest in the student squad movement is growing every year, both from the youth and from employers. If a few years ago about five thousand people worked in the third labor semester in the Vitebsk region, this year there are already over seven thousand. More and more enterprises and organizations in the region are hiring students, and they demonstrate their skills and talents in labor and creativity.
— In our district, — says Elena Babaren, — student squads of two profiles work annually. Construction squads work at the UP "Beshenkovichi Communal Services," and agricultural squads work in agricultural organizations. This summer, for example, we had 6 student squads operating: 3 construction and 3 agricultural. At "Beshenkovichi Communal Services," KSPUP "PolitotdelAgro," and the L. M. Dovator Ulla State College, 79 young people were employed last summer, 70 of whom were minors.
Student squad members performed various types of work. In construction squads, for example, they assisted specialists in the major repairs of multi-story buildings, and girls helped utility workers in landscaping the urban settlement.
Members of student agricultural brigades worked at grain drying complexes, and at the Ulla College, they weeded garden beds and maintained order in greenhouses. Although they did not make it to the top ranks this year, everyone worked diligently. Based on the results of their summer work, 5 members of the student brigades were awarded at a ceremony dedicated to the Day of Agricultural and Food Industry Workers of the Agro-Industrial Complex.
In addition to their work activities, the young people actively participated in various events organized by the district committee of the BRSM Public Association, including information meetings, social media giveaways, the celebration of BSO's Birthday, Youth Day as part of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" International Festival, and others. In June, students of the Ulla College participated in the regional opening of the third labor semester in Vitebsk. As a result, they spent the summer productively, not only earning their own money but also acquiring essential professional skills and competencies that will undoubtedly be useful in their lives, and making new friends.
