Threatened to kill cohabitant, inflicted bodily harm. The Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District initiated criminal cases.

The Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District initiated criminal cases against a 62-year-old local resident for intentionally inflicting minor bodily harm resulting in a short-term health disorder and for making death threats.

These decisions were made after reviewing the materials of the territorial internal affairs department's investigation.

According to the case materials, in January of this year, at approximately 2:00 PM, an intoxicated K. at his place of residence, during a conflict with his 63-year-old cohabitant S., repeatedly struck her with a metal poker on various parts of her body, while also uttering death threats against the victim.

As a result of these unlawful actions, S. sustained minor bodily injuries, which led to a short-term health disorder.

In this situation, the victim perceived K.'s threats as real and feared their execution.

K. has a negative characterization, is prone to alcohol abuse, and to committing unlawful acts against S.

Fearing retaliation from her cohabitant, and due to her dependent position, the victim refused to file a statement.

The District Prosecutor's Office considered its intervention justified in this case and decided to initiate criminal cases under Articles 153 and 186 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

For reference: Part 5 of Article 26 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus provides for the prosecutor's right to initiate criminal cases of private and private-public prosecution without a statement from the person who suffered from the crime, if they affect significant interests of the state and society or were committed against a person who is in official or other dependence on the accused or for other reasons is unable to independently protect their rights and legitimate interests.

To organize the preliminary investigation, the criminal cases have been sent to the Beshenkovichi District Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
