Evasion of Conscription Measures
The defense of the Republic of Belarus is a duty and sacred obligation of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus. Currently, in accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 21 of January 17, 2018, "On Discharge to the Reserve and Conscription for Fixed-Term Military Service, Reserve Service," conscription commissions and military commissariats are conducting a conscription campaign.
In February–May 2018, male citizens of the Republic of Belarus who have reached the age of 18 by the day of conscription and who are not entitled to a deferment from conscription, as well as citizens of conscription age who have lost the right to a deferment, are subject to conscription for fixed-term military service and reserve service.

In general, conscripts, fulfilling their duty, responsibly approach the conscription measures for military service, appear at military enlistment offices by summons, and undergo medical examinations. However, in every district, there are individuals who evade conscription. In the Beshenkovichi district, two such individuals were identified in 2017 and subsequently prosecuted.
Responsibility for evading conscription measures is stipulated by Article 435 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The commission of this crime is punishable by a fine, arrest, restriction of liberty, and imprisonment for up to two years. In the event of evasion of conscription measures committed by intentionally inflicting bodily harm, simulating an illness, forging documents, or other deception, the punishment in the form of restriction of liberty and imprisonment increases to five years.
