The ecological event "Earth Hour" will be held in Belarus on March 26
On March 26, Belarus will host the largest international environmental event "Earth Hour". This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
"The Ministry of Natural Resources invites everyone to participate in the "Earth Hour" event: on March 26 at 20:30, let's turn off the lights together for an hour," the press service said.
The main goal of the event is to draw attention to the consequences of climate change, the need for a responsible attitude towards nature and the resources of our planet.
"Energy saving is not the main goal of the event – unity shown by people in the face of environmental problems, and everyone's readiness to contribute to the well-being of the planet are important," the press service noted.
The event will be held in Belarus for the 13th time under the auspices of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This event was first held in Sydney, Australia on March 31, 2007. A year later, the event was supported by 35 countries and over 400 cities. Belarus joined the event in 2009.
