A campaign to water young green spaces has been announced in Belarus

Due to the prolonged absence of precipitation in the country, green spaces planted in settlements during the spring of this year, as well as in previous years, are at risk of drying out. Without human intervention, most young trees and shrubs are doomed to perish quickly.

In this regard, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection announces an emergency campaign "Water a Tree – Save Its Life!". The event will take place in all settlements of Belarus, and every resident of the republic can contribute to the preservation of young green spaces.
It is advisable to take water for irrigation from open sources so that its temperature is close to the soil temperature. Usually, watering is done in the morning or evening to reduce water evaporation. Trees should be watered at a rate of 30–50 liters per 1 m² of trunk area, and shrubs – 20 liters per 1 m². However, during dry periods, water will be beneficial for trees in any quantity. First, the topsoil should be watered to moisten it, and then watered more intensively.

In dry and hot weather, trees are recommended to be watered weekly. If the trees have been recently planted, they require more frequent watering.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection reminds of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, according to which the protection of the natural environment and the careful attitude towards natural resources are the duty of everyone. Do not remain indifferent, water the trees, flowers, and shrubs near your home, workplace, educational institution, in parks, alleys, and public gardens!
If you have any additional questions or need assistance in carrying out watering activities for green spaces in settlements, you can contact the territorial body of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection at your place of residence.
