An event dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory and the renewal of the museum exhibition on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War was held at the Beshenkovichi District Museum of History and Local Lore.

The event was attended by Vladimir Guk, Deputy Prosecutor of Vitebsk Region, Gennady Shvedov, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, Alexander Yerashov, Deputy of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Archpriest Nikolay Kisel, Dean of the Churches of the Beshenkovichi District, representatives of the district prosecutor's office, labor collectives, public associations, and schoolchildren of the district.

Opening the updated museum exhibition, Vladimir Guk noted the following: "The most important thing today is to convey historical truth to the younger generation. During the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the population during the Great Patriotic War, the prosecutor's office of Vitebsk region is establishing more and more terrible events testifying to the purposeful, brutal and mass extermination of our people."

Speaking with a presentation to those present, Sergey Kiryanov, Assistant Prosecutor of Beshenkovichi District, said that "in the period from August to September 2022, at one of the unaccounted burials in the forest area of the "Fox Holes tract", with the participation of the search unit of the 52nd separate specialized search battalion of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, a significant number of bone remains (at least 65 people) of civilians were seized, which is irrefutable evidence of the policy of extermination of our people carried out by the occupiers and their accomplices."

Those present got acquainted with the updated museum exhibition, where new exhibits were added, found during field search work at the site of the execution of civilians, transferred to the museum exhibition by the district prosecutor's office. The transferred exhibits are fragments of rubber galoshes, including women's and children's, buttons, hair combs, parts of jewelry - beads, fragments of children's toys, mirrors and other household items. In addition, the exhibition was also supplemented with bullets and casings found at the site of destruction and burial.
