The Beshenkovichi District Museum of History and Local Lore hosted the "Candle of Memory" event, dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory and the renewal of the museum's exhibition on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.

The event was attended by Vladimir Guk, Deputy Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region, Gennady Shvedov, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, Alexander Yerashov, Deputy of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Archpriest Nikolai Kisel, Dean of the Beshenkovichi District Churches, representatives of the district prosecutor's office, labor collectives, public associations, and students from district schools.

Attendees familiarized themselves with the updated museum exhibition, which now includes new exhibits found during field search operations at the execution site of civilians from the villages of Sloboda and Bortniki, transferred to the museum's exhibition by the district prosecutor's office. The transferred exhibits include fragments of rubber galoshes, including women's and children's, buttons, hair combs, parts of jewelry – beads, fragments of children's toys, mirrors, and other household items.

In addition, the exhibition was also supplemented with bullets and casings found at the site of destruction and burial.

Participants of the event honored the memory of the innocent victims who fell at the hands of the punitive forces with a minute of silence and lit lamps.
