The "Don't Be Deceived!" Campaign is Underway in the Beshenkovichi District
In the Vitebsk region, including the Beshenkovichi District, the "Don't Be Deceived!" campaign is taking place from April 10 to April 20. This preventive decade is aimed at preventing cybercrimes and improving the digital literacy of the population.
As noted by the Beshenkovichi District Department of Internal Affairs, the number of serious crimes has increased over the first 3 months of the current year. Across the country, the amount of stolen funds exceeded 1 million 800 thousand Belarusian rubles!
Knowledge about cyber fraud and awareness of protection methods are more important than ever. Every citizen must be prepared to resist fraudsters.
The main methods of committing cybercrimes still include calls impersonating law enforcement officers, representatives of banking institutions, or mobile operators; fraud using Instagram shops, offers of earnings on cryptocurrency exchanges, and property theft through modification of computer information.
To disseminate up-to-date information on modern methods of committing cybercrimes, internal affairs officers conduct presentations in work and educational collectives. Law enforcement officers are focusing on elderly and single citizens, with whom they hold individual conversations.
