A new coronavirus vaccine has arrived at the Central District Hospital
Vaccination against coronavirus infection continues at the Central District Hospital.
The healthcare institution received 300 doses of the universal anti-COVID vaccine "Convaseal" with a new mechanism of action, which became the world's first registered vaccine based on the use of components of the most conservative nucleocapsid (N) protein of the SARS-CoV‑2 virus.
According to the results of the 3rd phase of clinical trials, the efficacy and safety of the "Convaseal" vaccine, developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, showed an efficacy of 85.2%, and among volunteers over 60 years old – 91.7%.
With a single immunization, the specific antibody titer increased 14.7 times in the general population and 20.1 times in the group of individuals aged 60+. At the same time, the specific cellular response increased 2.7 and 2.5 times, respectively. The duration of post-vaccination immunity is up to 12 months.
The vaccine is indicated for individuals aged 18 years and older. The CDH invites residents of the district to get vaccinated against COVID‑19. Vaccination is primarily recommended for groups at high risk of developing severe disease and high risk of infection. This includes, among others, individuals with immunosuppression (including HIV infection, autoimmune diseases, cancer, etc.), individuals over 60 years of age, and individuals residing and working in institutions with round-the-clock stays.
