Citizens' Assemblies with the Participation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Held in Verkhovsky and Verkhnekrivinsky Village Councils

Rural assemblies of citizens with the participation of a representative of the Beshenkovichi District Department for Emergency Situations were held in the Verkhovsky and Verkhnekrivinsky village councils.

During the events, a presentation titled "112: Safety Rules" was given. Using the interactive element "Life Cube," attendees were reminded in an accessible way about the rules of safe behavior at home and fire safety requirements for the operation of stove heating.

The operational situation in the district was communicated to the citizens. It was noted that since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in the number of fires in Beshenkovichi compared to the same period last year. The representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations presented statistics for the country and also elaborated on the fires that occurred in the district and their causes.

Special emphasis was placed on the main causes of fires: careless handling of fire while smoking, violation of stove heating operation rules, and malfunction of electrical networks and equipment. A tragic example of a fire with fatalities that occurred in one of the districts of the region was demonstrated to the attendees.

The representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations had one goal: to convey to people that life can be cut short in an instant, and negligence and personal carelessness are often the cause. Special attention was paid to the proper condition of stove heating, timely cleaning of chimneys, the operability of electrical wiring, and the effectiveness of autonomous fire alarms.

The issue of child safety was also discussed separately. A representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations spoke about the information campaign "Children are not adults! Do not leave them alone!", which the Ministry of Emergency Situations is conducting with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative Office. The main message was conveyed to parents, grandmothers, and grandfathers: children should never be left unattended, even for a minute. A child may imitate adult actions without understanding their consequences. They see parents cooking, using irons, stoves, and kettles, and want to "do as the adults do." However, what is familiar and safe for us is a game for a child, where any mistake can be life-threatening. It is especially important for grandmothers and grandfathers to remember this when their grandchildren visit.

In conclusion, participants of the meetings actively asked questions and received competent answers. All attendees were given informational brochures with vital safety rules.
