In Vitebsk, the Belarusian Women's Union organized an event for fathers raising children alone ahead of the academic year
Ahead of the new academic year, a celebration with school supplies and entertainment was held in Vitebsk, aimed at supporting fathers raising children on their own. The event was organized by the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Women's Union with the support of partners.
The Belarusian Women's Union cares not only for children and women but also for single fathers, noted Natalia Neusheva, Deputy Chairperson of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the BSW:
— It is important for us to pay attention to everyone. Such events are an opportunity to meet, communicate, and share experiences.
Government officials and businesses joined the initiative. Personal support was provided by Irina Levkovich, a member of the Council of the Republic. She thanked the fathers for their courage and care for their children. Among the partners was also the Orsha Meat Canning Plant, which provided families with baby food sets.
Viktor Gridjushko from the Sharkovshchyna district, who is raising two sons, shared his impressions:
— Today is interesting for me and the children, it's our first time at such an event. Of course, it's hard to live on one salary with two children. State assistance for the loss of a breadwinner greatly improves the situation. The certificate will also ease the financial burden on the eve of September 1st. And in general, it's pleasant to receive attention and gifts.
The holiday was one of the first in a series of planned events of the BZhS charitable marathon for National Unity Day, which will last until Parental Love Week. Its main goal is to provide additional care and support to all families in need.
