A SDG seminar was held in Vitebsk
Any organization registered and operating in the Republic of Belarus can become a participant of the competition. Their initiatives must comply with at least one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, as well as one of the four SDG acceleration platforms.
— Those who become winners of the competition will be able to receive funding for the implementation of their project – up to 22 thousand dollars, — explained Elena Borzdyko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Economy of the Regional Executive Committee, who is a member of the Vitebsk Regional Group for Sustainable Development. — For some large enterprises, this may not be a very large amount. But for public organizations, institutions of the budget sphere, I believe, this is a good opportunity to finance their project and, based on its implementation, to promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in a specific region.
REFERENCE "VV". The following acceleration platforms for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals have been identified in our republic:
- "Green" transition to inclusive and sustainable growth;
- Focus on future generations: adolescents and youth;
- Digital transformations and social innovations;
- Gender equality in society.
Representatives of various regions of the Vitebsk region, public organizations, and universities were invited to the seminar, which was conducted by UNDP representatives in cooperation with the Committee for Economy of the Regional Executive Committee. Some participants joined the work online. UNDP representatives spoke about the international technical assistance project "Support for the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalizing and Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals" and about specific initiatives that help solve the set tasks. In addition, experts explained the requirements for the design and submission of applications for the competition, showed what approaches to their development could be, which platform and how to use it. A quiz on the SDGs was also held for those present, allowing everyone to consolidate and expand their knowledge.
The information received at the seminar will be useful when preparing and finalizing applications. They will be accepted from May 1 to May 31 of the current year.
The competition is held within the framework of the joint project "Support for the Republic of Belarus's efforts in the nationalization and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals," financed by the Government of the Russian Federation.
