Four Youth-Friendly Centers operate in the Vitebsk region
To provide assistance to adolescents in difficult life situations, consultative groups (gynecologists, pediatricians, psychologists, urologists) have been established in Adolescent-Friendly Centers. Volunteers are involved for peer-to-peer counseling.
The Centers provide assistance to adolescents and youth in maintaining and strengthening reproductive, psychological, and somatic health on a FREE, ANONYMOUS, CONFIDENTIAL basis (one can seek help anonymously without providing passport data or place of study).
The purpose of establishing the center is to increase awareness and motivation for a healthy lifestyle, provide conditions for the socialization of adolescents, and ultimately improve the reproductive, psychological, and somatic health of young people.
The activities of the Center are aimed at:
- raising the level of knowledge of adolescents and youth about a healthy lifestyle, reproductive health, and STIs/HIV;
- acquiring and strengthening healthy lifestyle skills, proper social and reproductive behavior;
- forming motivation to use acquired knowledge and skills in one's own behavior.
Psychologists provide counseling in the following areas:
- Parent-child relationships (issues of child-rearing, communication with parents, conflict resolution, issues of understanding between children and parents)
- Communication problems (shyness, conflict, fear of peers, teachers, fear of public speaking)
- Emotional problems (anxiety, school phobias, aggression, lack of empathy)
- Crisis situations (significant loss, unrequited love, loneliness, violence, physical trauma, etc.)
