First fire due to burning dry vegetation recorded in Vitebsk region
The District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection warns that burning dry vegetation is strictly prohibited! This is not only dangerous but also entails administrative liability.
In accordance with Articles 16.40 and 16.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, illegal burning of dry vegetation is punishable by a fine of 10 to 30 basic units, and for setting fires in prohibited places – a fine of up to 12 basic units. If the fire causes significant damage, criminal liability may arise.
It is prohibited:
- to burn dry grass on household plots, in gardening associations and at dachas;
- to light fires under tree crowns and on peat soils;
- to use flammable liquids for ignition.
If you witness the burning of dry vegetation, immediately call 101 or 112 and leave the scene.
