Vitebsk region exported goods worth more than $1.5 billion in six months

Vitebsk region's goods exports exceeded $1.5 billion in January-June, as reported by the region's Main Statistical Department.
"According to preliminary data, in the first half of 2022, goods exports in the Vitebsk region increased by almost 1.5 times and amounted to $1.54 billion. Of this amount, $660 million and $617 million were accounted for by CIS and EAEU countries, respectively, with supplies to the Russian Federation amounting to $590 million. For the same period last year, the region exported goods worth over $1 billion," the department stated. "The import growth rate approached 140% - $2 billion. In the first half of 2021, this figure exceeded $1.4 billion."

 

 

Russia ranks first among the countries to which enterprises of the northern region of Belarus supply their products. As the department clarifies, in January-May, the neighboring country accounted for almost 40% of the total export volume. The Vitebsk region exported over 36% to the European Union countries and about 23% to other countries. Russia also holds leading positions in terms of importing goods into our country, with over 88%. The EU and other countries account for slightly more than 5% and 6.5% respectively.

 

The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Latvia, Poland, China, Lithuania, and Ukraine also remain among the main trading partners of the Vitebsk region. In January-May, the northern region supplied goods to the markets of 74 countries and imported products from 87. In total, export-import operations were registered with 98 states.
