Attention: Bicycle Thefts
Attention: Bicycle Thefts
Currently, one of the most common crimes is property theft. In the past period of 2018 alone, 57 thefts were committed in the district, of which bicycles were the subject of theft in 5 criminal cases.
Thus, the district prosecutor's office supported the prosecution in the criminal case against S., who committed bicycle theft in one of the district's agro-towns.
The victim K. worked as a saleswoman in a store, came to work by bicycle, which she usually locked in a utility room. However, one day in September, upon arriving at work and seeing that customers had gathered near the store, she decided not to waste time and left her bicycle near the store, assuming that none of the residents of the agro-town would think of stealing her property. However, after a short period of time, having served the customers, she did not find her bicycle near the store and called the police.
During the investigation, it was established that the bicycle theft was committed by S., who on that day wanted to buy alcohol, but had no money, and the store would not sell alcohol on credit. Therefore, upon seeing the victim K.'s bicycle, she decided to steal it and exchange it for alcohol with someone. During the court hearing of the criminal case, the accused repented of her actions, explained that she committed the theft under the influence of alcohol, and asked the victim for forgiveness.
By court verdict, S. was found guilty of secret property theft (theft), she was sentenced to a fine, and also underwent treatment for chronic alcoholism. The verdict has entered into force.
