Attention! MES Reminds: Burning Dry Vegetation is Prohibited!

With the onset of stable spring weather, owners of private households and summer cottages are eager to tidy up their adjacent territories. Often, tidying up is accompanied by burning last year's garbage, and in the worst cases, by burning dry vegetation at its roots.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) strongly reminds of the inadmissibility of burning dry vegetation. This is not only dangerous but also strictly prohibited. Violators face administrative responsibility in the form of a fine from 10 to 30 basic units in accordance with Article 16.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus.

Burning garbage on a personal plot is allowed if simple safety rules are observed:

– last year's garbage can only be burned in calm weather, at a safe distance from buildings;

– the burning process must be continuously monitored;

– it is better to use a metal container for burning garbage; if there is none, the fire pit must be dug around;

– fire extinguishing means must be nearby: a bucket of water, a shovel, or a fire extinguisher;

– do not involve children in the process and do not use flammable liquids for ignition.

Remember! Carelessness when handling fire can lead to irreparable consequences and tragedy. Take care of yourself, your loved ones, and the surrounding nature! In case of an emergency, report the incident to the rescue service by calling 101 or 112.
