Attention! Adverse weather conditions, rules of conduct

According to information from the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, from February 17-21 of the current year, a large amount of precipitation in the form of snow fell in the Vitebsk region, ranging from 18 to 34 mm (44-68% of the monthly norm). The largest amount of precipitation fell in the city of Vitebsk, the snow cover increased by 21 cm and reached 37 cm. In the coming days, weather conditions will become more severe, with further precipitation of wet snow and rain, fog in places, a sharp temperature drop from +4 to -23 0C, with wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s.

Recommendations for the public during heavy snowfall:

• refrain from traveling around the city by personal vehicle;

• when outdoors, avoid unstable structures and buildings with unstable roofs;

• be aware of structural parts and objects hanging over buildings, broken power lines, broken glass, and other sources of danger;

• move carefully, without rushing, stepping on the entire sole;

• do not overheat the stove! In case of severe frosts, to avoid overheating, stoves should be heated several times a day.

Residents of private housing are advised to take measures to clear roofs of snow, ice, and icicles.
