Military Theme in Focus. Alexander Lukashenko Visits Missile Troops in Osipovichi District
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has arrived at the Armed Forces missile brigade in Osipovichi District, a BELTA correspondent reports.
The Head of State was briefed on the concept of conducting training with military units for combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support. The relevant measures are being practiced in cooperation with the Russian side.
Alexander Lukashenko inspected the missile brigade's equipment park and visited the commander's command post. The President was shown the "Iskander-M" launcher and the execution of a simulated nuclear missile strike (electronic launch). This means all actions were performed as they would be in a real combat situation. With one important nuance – the missile itself was not launched.
The Head of State communicated with the launcher crew, once again emphasizing the importance of high-quality training for personnel, commanders, and officers.
"I once dreamed of this machine. And today we have more than one. And you know better than I do that this is a good weapon," the President said.
The commander of the missile brigade, Alexander Kravtsov, told reporters that the electronic launch is virtually indistinguishable from a combat launch. "The only difference is that the projectile does not leave the launcher's guide. The entire cycle and all modes have been fully practiced by all crews. Combat and training cycles are completely identical," he said. "In this case, the launch was carried out as planned. Everything was reported and shown to the Head of State."
