All about the autonomous fire alarm
Installation of Fire Detectors in Apartments
85% of all fires occur in apartments, private houses, and cottages. They usually happen at night. Consequences: loss of property, carbon monoxide poisoning, and even death.
A means of early fire detection has long been invented – an autonomous fire detector (AFD)! It can alert about the presence of smoke and allow you to extinguish a nascent flame.
Does legislation mandate the installation of AFDs?
Houses commissioned since the beginning of 2004, or those that have undergone major renovations with the installation of AFDs, must be equipped with autonomous fire detectors – this is stipulated by the construction plan. Residents of these apartments do not have the right to dismantle them and must maintain them in proper working order. In housing built earlier, the installation of AFDs is recommended.
Where should AFDs be installed?
In each living room or adjacent to it in the corridor. In a multi-story private house – also near the stairs. The best location is on the ceiling in the center of the room. If this is not possible – on the ceiling near the wall (but no closer than 10 cm to it) or on the wall (at a distance of 10 to 30 cm from the ceiling).
InstallationAPI
To equip an apartment with autonomous fire detectors, it is not necessary to call a specialist. Such devices do not require wiring or additional equipment. Installing a detector is simple and takes only a few minutes. The API kit includes all the necessary mounting parts and detailed instructions. The autonomous fire detector is battery-powered. If it detects smoke, it will emit a piercing sound.
What to do to ensure the detector does not fail at the right moment?
Check the battery once a week. When the battery is low, the detector will emit a single short signal. But it can be missed. Therefore, periodically press the test button. If there is an audible signal, the charge is still sufficient. Replace the batteries annually. Choose batteries only from trusted manufacturers.
And remember! According to current legislation, for the absence of autonomous fire detectors or their malfunction in housing commissioned after 2004, an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of up to 5 basic units may be imposed.
Value your money and your property. And more importantly, protect your life and the lives of your loved ones. After all, your safety is in your hands!
