Agricultural companies of Vitebsk oblast finishing sowing campaign

Agricultural companies of Vitebsk oblast are finishing sowing cereals, BelTA has been informed in the main department of plant growing of the ministry of agriculture and foodstuffs.

The rest of the oblasts have already finished the sowing of cereals except corn, millet and buckwheat. On the whole, today agricultural companies of the country sowed 1 million 128 thousand hectares of cereals, or 103% of this year’s task. In Vitebsk oblast, there are around 2% of the areas left to be sown.

Spring-rape has been sown on the area of 28 thousand hectares, what makes 66% of the areas to be sown under this plant. Flax has been sown on the area of 27,5 thousand hectares  (39%), sugar beet – 40 thousand hectares (41%). 

Potato has been sown on the area of 5 thousand hectares what makes 10% of the areas to be sown under this plant. Agricultural companies of the south regions are the most active in this.

Belarusian agricultural companies have started sowing vegetables.

As for the corn, it has been sown on the area of 12 thousand hectares what makes 1.7% of the areas to be sown under this plant.

According to specialists, the soil is moist enough due to rains. So, it is much easier to prepare it for sowing. Agricultural companies of the republic have already prepared 1 million 622 thousand hectares of arable land, or 69.5% of this year’s task. Regions are continuing to fertilize soil.
