Ambassador: Belarus offers great opportunities for Pakistani investors, business

Belarus offers great opportunities for Pakistani investors and business, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan said at the Gomel Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

According to the diplomat, the Gomel Economic Forum serves as a wonderful platform where representatives of different countries meet to explore opportunities and strengthen economic ties.

Relations between Pakistan and Belarus have always been marked by friendship and mutual respect. Over the years, we have witnessed the growth of both diplomatic and economic relations between our countries. Pakistan and Belarus have worked together to advance trade, investment and technological cooperation. The Gomel Economic Forum provides a unique opportunity to further strengthen these ties, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan is convinced.

According to the diplomat, despite the fact that economic relations between the two countries have been developing at a fairly high pace, the potential for their improvement is still huge.

"Thus, Given its dynamic market and strategic location, Pakistan can become a gateway for Belarus and its business to the markets of South Asian countries and not only. Similarly, Belarus, which is known for innovations and technological achievements, opens up huge opportunities for Pakistani investors and business," the ambassador noted.

He recalled that the population of Pakistan is more than 230 million. "Agriculture holds an important place in the country's economy. So an integral part of cooperation between our countries is partnership in the field of agriculture. Belarusian tractors are very popular in Pakistan. Gomselmash is a potential partner for cooperation, too," the diplomat said.

Pakistan is famous for its textile industry, the ambassador emphasized. "About 60% of the country's total exports are textile products," the diplomat said.

Next year, Belarus and Pakistan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. A number of events will be held to mark this occasion, including in education and culture, the diplomat summed up.

The 17th edition of the Gomel Economic Forum brought together more than 370 participants from Belarus and 12 countries. The forum runs three breakout sessions: Manufacturing and Construction, Tourism and Welfare, Small and Medium-Sized Businesses and two exhibitions: PromStroyAgro and R&D achievements of Gomel Oblast. The forum seeks to facilitate the economic development of Gomel Oblast.
