A.Surikov: Russia is ready to take part in implementing project on building nuclear plant in Belarus

Russia is ready to take part in implementing the project on building a nuclear plant in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus Alexander Surikov told BelTA when commenting upon prospects of interstate nuclear-power engineering cooperation.

According to the diplomat, the Russian side can perform all R&D operations, produce and assemble technological equipment including a nuclear reactor. Moreover, Russia is ready to grant a credit to Belarus to implement the project. Belarusian specialists can build the station – they have gained relevant experience, Alexander Surikov said. At present the Belarusian and Russian atomic scientists have been cooperating at the level of research institutions.

The Russian ambassador has been paying a two-day visit to Vitebsk oblast. He will visit meat-processing and oil refining companies of the oblast and will familiarize himself with the historical and cultural sights of Vitebsk and Polotsk.
