Back-to-school assistance provided to over 100,000 large families in Belarus

Back-to-school financial assistance has been provided to more than 101,000 large families (201,000 children). The total amount of payments exceeded Br26 million, BelTA learned from the press service of Labor and Social Security the Ministry. 

One-time financial assistance is provided regardless of family income. The amount of assistance is Br129.9 for every student in the family. Back-to-school financial assistance is also provided in the form of one-time or monthly social benefits within the framework of state targeted social assistance. The amount of payments is determined by district commissions in every case individually, based on family income and a specific life situation. Almost 1,700 families and 4,800 children have already received such assistance (Br3.9 million).

Parents of school students can also receive assistance at their place of work from trade union organizations or employers' funds. Such assistance (more than Br3.3 million) was provided to 16,800 families with a total of 30,900 children.

Moreover, back-to-school giveaway events and fairs are held by social service centers, charitable foundations, public associations and religious organizations across the country to support families with children. Such assistance was provided to 4,200 families with 10,000 children (Br245,300).

In total, Br33.6 million worth of various types of assistance was provided to families to prepare children for the new academic year. Work to provide assistance for school continues.
