Back-to-school financial assistance has been provided to 96% of large families in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of Labor and Social Security the Ministry.
One-time financial assistance has been provided to more than 111,200 large families (223,500 children). The total amount of payments made up Br29 million. Such assistance is provided regardless of the family income. The amount of assistance is Br129.9 for every student in the family.
Parents of school students can also receive assistance at their place of work from trade union organizations or employers' funds. Such assistance (more than Br6 million) was provided to 31,600 families with a total of 56,600 children.
Moreover, back-to-school giveaway events and fairs are held by social service centers, charitable foundations, public associations and religious organizations across the country to support families with children. Such assistance was provided to 6,300 families with 14,000 children (Br377,500).
Low-income families receive back-to-school financial assistance in the form of one-time or monthly social benefits within the framework of state targeted social assistance. Some 2,000 families and 5,500 children have already received such assistance (Br4.5 million).
The amount of payments is determined by district commissions in every case individually, based on family income and a specific life situation.
In total, Br40 million worth of various types of assistance was provided to families to prepare children for the new academic year. Work to provide back-to-school assistance continues.
