A total of 153 territorial commissions and more than 5,000 precinct commissions will be formed for the presidential election in Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko said, BelTA has learned.
"To organize the presidential election, we will set up 153 territorial commissions and more than 5,000 precinct commissions. When forming commissions, it is important to comply with the law. It is also advisable to take into account the experience of citizens' participation in the organization and conduct of election campaigns, knowledge of electoral legislation, and people skills," Igor Karpenko said.
"The main task of the territorial commissions will be to verify the authenticity of the signatures collected in support of presidential candidates, to monitor the activities and assist the precinct election commissions which, in turn, work with voter lists, organize voting and count votes at a polling station," the head of the CEC said.
