A Belarusian delegation took part in the twentieth session of the Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) that was held in Geneva, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
The Belarusian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection and the National Statistical Committee.
“The event discussed revised environmental indicators, including respective metadata tables, as well as indicators complementing the revised UNECE Guidelines for the Application of Environmental Indicators. In addition, the parties exchanged best practices in the field of environmental statistics, monitoring and assessment,” the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection informed.
During the session, the Belarusian side informed the participants about the outcomes of the work of the national environmental monitoring system in Belarus that turned 30 years this year, progress to implement the National Action Plan to promote the green economy, in particular the work on the National Strategy for the Development of a Circular Economy for the period until 2035.
The Belarusian delegation took an active part in the discussion of selected metadata within the framework of the revised UNECE Guidelines for the Application of Environmental Indicators adopted at the session. Members of the Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators acknowledged the contribution of Belarus' delegation to the work of the platform.
