Belarusian People's Congress hailed as pillar of strength for national sovereignty

The Belarusian People's Congress is becoming a true pillar of strength for the sovereignty of Belarus, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media on the sidelines of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Aleinik called the opening of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress a historic event, as it is the first time it meets as a constitutional body. This is true democracy, the minister emphasized.

"You know that the Congress has its history. Since 1996, the Belarusian People's Congress has discussed the main areas of development of our state and many other issues: food security, industrial policy, and so on. But today we are moving into a qualitatively new dimension, and the Belarusian People's Congress is becoming a true pillar of strength for sovereignty, creative, progressive, sustainable economic development of our state," Sergei Aleinik said.
