Change of Vitebsk oblast border with Latvia adjusted

The Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies has adjusted the change of the oblast’s border with the adjacent territory of Latvia. The oblast’s Braslav district is supposed to relinquish two land plots with the total area of 0.28 hectares to Latvia in return for one land plot of the same size, which will make part of the Braslav Lakes National Nature Reserve.

BelTA learnt from Vladimir Shalypin, head of the Vitebsk Oblast Land Management and Geodesy Service, the deputies had considered documents provided by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry concerning the optimisation of the Belarusian-Latvian border demarcation and had taken into account the opinion of Braslav deputies. Now the Foreign Ministry’s proposal will be sent for consideration of the head of state.
