Seventy-five children from Syria have come to Belarus for health recuperation holidays. They will take part in the Belarusian-Syrian summer camp "From Heart to Heart" at the National Educational And Health Center Zubryonok. Belarusian Ambassador Yuri Sluka met with the young Syrians before their departure to Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Belarus has hosted children from friendly states for recuperation holidays every year since 2017. This program is implemented by the decision of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. More than 1,300 Syrian children have already holidayed in Belarus. This year, most of the participants of the program are orphans from children's homes across Syria.
"This humanitarian project is important in the bilateral Belarusian-Syrian relations. With our concrete actions, we emphasize the strategic level of partnership between the two countries and the responsible position of Belarus in our relations with Syria," the ambassador noted during the meeting. "We have decided that we will stand together with the Syrian people, and we do not intend to abandon this position."
Еhe diplomat considers such projects a good opportunity for the development of such an important tool of international relations as people's diplomacy. "In the Belarusian-Syrian case, this is children's diplomacy," Ambassador Yuri Sluka noted. "I sincerely want you to enjoy yourselves in the atmosphere of friendly Belarus in the next two weeks."
As BelTA has reported, in accordance with the order of the Belarusian president, funds have been earmarked for the organization of holidays for 413 children from Egypt, China, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Syria and Uzbekistan at the National Educational And Health Center Zubryonok.
During their stay in Belarus, the children will undergo a medical examination, receive the necessary medical-focused sanatorium treatment, visit cultural events and iconic historical sites in Minsk and the regions.
