During his visit to China, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik took part in the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum on Traditional Medicine in Nanchang in China’s southern Jiangxi Province, BelTA learned from the press service of the Industry Ministry.
A reminder, the deputy prime minister is on a visit to China on 25-28 June. He leads the Belarusian delegation that includes senior officials of the Industry Ministry and heads of large industrial enterprises.
Pyotr Parkhomchik noted that Belarus always paid great attention to the development of innovative and traditional medicine. The necessary legal framework and unique conditions have been created at the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone to promote traditional Chinese medicine. No other country in the world offers such terms. Work is underway to create a pharmaceutical cluster in the industrial park; there are plans to open an international center for the Chinese pharmaceutical industry.
During the forum, specialists from China, Pakistan, Maldives, Myanmar, Mongolia, Egypt and Russia shared their best practices in traditional medicine.
The Nanchang Consensus was adopted at the SCO Forum on Traditional Medicine. In this document participants of the forum declared their readiness to join efforts to develop traditional medicine and expand cooperation in this area within the SCO, and commitment to strive for better public health.
On the sidelines of the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik met with Vice-Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the SCO Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission Shen Yueyue. The parties discussed interaction within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, cooperation in industry and healthcare, and exchanged views on current issues on the bilateral agenda, including preparations for upcoming high-level visits.
The forum was organized by the Chinese SCO Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province.
