Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova suggested holding a forum of regions of Belarus and Azerbaijan as she met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, BelTA has learned.
“The Council of the Republic is a body of territorial representation, our senators work in all regions of our country, so regional cooperation is very important for us. In May this year, when Aleksandr Grigorievich [Lukashenko] was on a visit to Azerbaijan, three Azerbaijani and three Belarusian cities signed memorandums on sister city relations. I think that we should work more intensively in this area. It would be great if more districts, regions, cities established sister city relations,” said Natalya Kochanova. At the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Grigorievich emphasized the need to expand the geography of the forum and to invite our partners from other countries to join it. Therefore, let’s consider the possibility of holding a Belarus-Azerbaijan forum of regions. We already have the necessary experience,” Natalya Kochanova suggested.
The speaker noted that the Belarus-Uzbekistan women's business forum held last year was very successful. “This event gave a new impetus to cooperation between women of Belarus and Uzbekistan,” emphasized Natalya Kochanova.
