No closed topics between Belarus, Vietnam

Belarus and Vietnam have no  topics they would rather not discuss, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media following a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich recalled that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang on 9 September. "During the meeting with the president the parties discussed, first of all, Belarus' and Vietnam's vision of the geopolitical situation, modern security challenges that threaten the two countries. It was noted that we share views on the geopolitical situation. Both Belarus and Vietnam are in favor of a multipolar world. We equally appreciate and respect our historical facts related to the achievement of territorial integrity and independence. We respect the events of the Great Patriotic War. Certainly, we have the same views on modern international world order," he said. “Moreover, the president outlined areas of further interaction and cooperation not only in security, but also in economy. Nowadays, we have a potential for the development of economic cooperation. Vietnam emphasized its interest in Belarusian industrial, military-technical, and food products."

In continuation of the meeting hosted by the president consultations took place between the Secretariat of Belarus’ Security Council and a delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. "We have discussed strategic directions of ensuring security and ways of threat neutralization, outlined relevant practical steps for interaction between the State Secretariat of Belarus’ Security Council and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, as well as between Belarus’ law enforcement agencies: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Committee, the Emergencies Ministry," Aleksandr Volfovich said. “Our Vietnamese partners are interested in the work of these agencies, which are primarily intended to ensure peace and stability in our countries. We have no closed topics and all these matters should move from the theoretical dimension to practical steps for the benefit of our countries. Two years ago, we signed a Memorandum on cooperation between the State Secretariat of the Security Council and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security. Last year, we inked a two-year international cooperation plan in accordance with these documents. We consistently implement the steps outlined in these documents."

According to Aleksandr Volfovich, the meeting will give another impetus to solve security issues.
