Tax exemptions to encourage tourism development in Belarus promised

There are plans to adopt a set of tax exemptions in order to develop the tourism industry, BelTA learned from Belarusian Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk as the international tourism services expo Leisure 2022 opened in Minsk on 31 March.

Sergei Kovalchuk said: “Today we have all the opportunities for the development of domestic tourism. We've been dreaming of demonstrating our own brand for many years and we are now ready to develop this sector. We are considering a complex of tax exemptions meant to improve our tourism facilities. Today we focus on the development of domestic inbound tourism.”

The official also noted they expect a greater number of tourists this year in comparison with 2021. “If we get the marketing campaign right, people will come to us,” he noted.

The international tourism services expo Leisure 2022 is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 31 March – 2 April. It offers a business platform for countries, regions, and travel agencies from all over the world, which showcase their products and services on the Belarusian market. The expo has been organized by the national exhibition center BelExpo in association with the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.
