Visa-free entry to Belarus expected to boost Slavonic Bazaar foreign visitor numbers

The visa-free entry for citizens of 80 countries will help the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk attract more visitors from different states, BelTA has learned from Alexander Sidorenko, the director of the festival.

"The statistics over recent years show that ticket sales in other countries have been growing. The visa-free entry to our country will help us expand the geography of visitors. We welcome this decision. Our foreign partners often suggested that we should take such a step. Sometimes fans follow the contestants to Vitebsk. Visa-free entry is a wonderful possibility to visit the festival, watch the contest and other festival events," Alexander Sidorenko said.

Participants from more than 80 countries have taken part in the festival since its inception. "The number of participant applications grows annually," Alexander Sidorenko underlined. He also said that Vitebsk may host an Italian concert this year to mark the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Italy diplomatic relations and to celebrate the Year of Italian Culture declared in Belarus in 2017.

The 26th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk will take place on 13-17 July (with additional events on 11-12 and 18-19 July).
