Vitebsk rescue workers to take part in three transboundary projects in 2017

Vitebsk rescue workers intend to implement three transboundary projects, Head of the Vitebsk Oblast Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Klobuk told BelTA.

The Vitebsk Oblast Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry pays great attention to the development of international cooperation and continually bolsters ties with the states that border on the region (Russia, Latvia, and Lithuania). "Last year we submitted applications for participation in several international projects, three of the applications are under consideration in the EU now," Alexander Klobuk said. "One of the projects has medical aspects, another one concerns cooperation in the flood period, and the third one focuses on managing forest and peat fires in the transboundary region. Some of the documents have been already signed."

The Vitebsk Oblast Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry continues to conclude agreements on cooperation in preventing and managing emergencies with Russian regions. For instance, Vitebsk rescue workers conduct joint rescue and fire-fighting competitions with their Smolensk colleagues. The partnership was also established with colleagues from Kaluga Oblast and Bryansk Oblast of Russia.
