Belarus’ flag hoisted in Olympic Village

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - A ceremony of hoisting the state flag of the Republic of Belarus was held in the Olympic Village in London late on 22 July, BelTA has learnt. The website of the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus reads that the ceremony was attended by chief of the Belarusian mission Sergei Nereda, Secretary General of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee Georgy Katulin and Alexander Mikhnevich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The youth theater actors staged a spectacular performance. The main idea of the performance was that the London Olympiad gives everyone a chance to be a winner. Almost all the Embassy staff accompanied by their families came to support the Belarusian team. After the ceremony they were given a guided tour around the Olympic Village. The Belarusian Olympians continue arriving at the Village every day. Victoria Azarenka, Max Mirnyi and Alexander Bury have already come to the Olympic Village. The opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games will be held on 27 July.
