Big Family project might be launched in Belarus in 2014

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - The project called as The Big Family which is aimed at providing support to families with children can be launched as early as 2014, BelTA learned from Tamara Krasovskaya, deputy chairperson of the permanent commission on human rights, national relations and mass media of the House of Representatives.

Under the project, an account can be opened to which funds will be credited for the birth of a child. This amount may be increased considerably if a family has another child.

“It is important to have a savings fund for a child, supplementary social security. I think many parents will approve of the project. It is now under discussion in the departments concerned. But I think the project can get a green light next year," said Tamara Krasovskaya.

Tamara Krasovskaya stressed that The Big Family is a purely Belarusian project. "I think Belarus is a pioneer in the development of effective measures for the support and protection of the family," she said.

The MP noted that in recent years the birth rate in Belarus has been on the rise. "We have good families who hold healthy values. People are ready to have more children but are constrained by financial difficulties. Thanks to The Big Family project, the number of large families will increase,” Tamara Krasovskaya believes.
