A total of 227 candidates to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the sixth convocation have taken part in the pre-election televised debates. The relevant information was posted on the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Candidates in the Belarusian capital demonstrated the highest activity at this stage of the election campaign. 80 people running for the Belarusian parliament in Minsk took part in the televised debates. In Vitebsk and Mogilev Oblasts these figures stood at 45 and 43 respectively. The lowest number of candidates, eight persons, appeared on TV in Minsk Oblast.
As for the statements on state radio and television, an estimated 380 and 416 candidates took advantage of these pre-election opportunities respectively. Minsk candidates were most active here as well, with 102 candidates speaking on the radio and 105 appearing on television. In other parts of the country the number of candidates presenting their programs on radio and TV varied from 56 to 39 and 62 to 44 correspondingly.
The pre-election campaign in Belarus will be over on 10 September. Early voting which kicked off on 6 September will be ended on the same day. Election Day is due on 11 September.
