Iran invests $1.5bn in Belarus

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Iran is implementing investment projects worth about $1.5 billion in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini told a press conference dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran on 10 February, BelTA has learnt. According to the diplomat, Belarus and Iran are holding negotiations on more joint projects estimated at over $1 billion. This speaks volumes about Iran’s interest in investing in Belarus. The project to construct the Magnet-Minsk complex by Iran’s Kayson company is proceeding well. The project is estimated at about ?250 million. The complex will occupy about 180,000 square meters and will be located near the National Library. Other major projects run by the Kayson company include the construction of a transport and logistics center Prilesie in the FEZ Minsk. The Persepolis Invest company has plans to build a five-star hotel in the Belarusian capital. The project is worth $150 million. Iran’s DIDAS Co will implement investment projects in Brest, Gomel and Svetlogorsk. According to the Ambassador, other promising investment projects include construction of a hotel complex near the Zaslavl reservoir. The Iranian side will put about $1.5 billion in this project that will consist of 15 mini-projects. The ambassador told the press conference about the intentions of Iranian businessmen to start the production of metal wire in Rechitsa and construct a cement plant in Gomel Oblast. He reminded that Iranian Samand cars are produced in Minsk District.
