Lukashenko meets with UAE minister of investment
During a working visit to the United Arab Emirates Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, Managing Director of the investment fund ADQ, BelTA has learned.
The day before upon arriving in the UAE on the working visit Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that over the course of several days he would like to discuss a number of matters in Belarus-UAE relations, meet with investors, who operate in Belarus and invest in the country’s economy.
According to the press service of the Belarusian leader, while in the UAE Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to have a series of meetings and negotiations. During these meetings and negotiations attention will be focused primarily on promoting and advancing cooperation in trade, economy, investment, humanitarian affairs, and other spheres of mutual interest.
The holding company ADQ is a state-run investment and development company based in Abu Dhabi. It was founded in 2018. As of 2023 the holding company managed about $196 billion in assets, which made it the world’s 10th largest sovereign wealth fund. Goals and tasks of the holding company are to facilitate economic growth and diversification, invest in sustainable and innovative projects, and expand the UAE’s global presence in strategic sectors.
The main areas of investment are power engineering and utilities, food security and agriculture, transportation and logistics, healthcare and pharmaceutics, financial services, manufacturing sector, and mining of mineral resources.
