Nesvizh opens Bolshoi Theater Nights at the Radziwills’ Castle

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Nesvizh opens an annual festival, Bolshoi Theater Nights at the Radziwills’ Castle, on 20 June, BelTA learnt from the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, the organizer of the cultural project.

The festival, in its fifth year, will feature a varied program of entertainment.

The festival will be opened by the string quintet Serenada: Melodies of Love at the Theater Hall of the castle featuring opera singer Tatiata Tretyak. One of the most popular stories about love and freedom, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, will be staged at the Radziwills’ Castle inner courtyard. The Belarusian audience will have an opportunity to see the play for its last time on 20 June. Once the festival is over in Nesvizh, Carmen will be taken out of the theater’s repertoire at least for year in order to get a new production. The parts will be performed by leading soloists Oksana Yakushevich, Eduard Martynyuk, Honored Artists of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina and people’s Artist of Belarus Vladimir Petrov.

The chorus artists and opera soloists will perform pieces by Stanislaw Moniuszko at the Nesvizh Corpus Christi Church to mark the 195th birthday of the outstanding composer. The charity concert will take place on 21 June.

The same day amateurs of choreography will see the theater’s premiere Ballet Night: From the 19th Century to the 21st Century. The program will include miniatures Pas De Quarte, Flower Festival in Cinzano, Pas De Six from Esmeralda, George Balanchine’s Serenade and Jiri Kylian’s Six Dances.

On the final day of the festival, 22 June, opera lovers will enjoy Antonio Salieri’s masterpiece Prima la Musica e Poi le Parole (First the music and then the words).

The grand gala-concert of the Bolshoi Theater stars will make a concluding chord to the musical marathon at the Radziwills’ Castle in Nesvizh.

Bolshoi Theater Nights at the Radziwills’ Castle will feature about 300 singers and dancers.
