Oil transit rates via Belarus’ up by 8.3%

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus has increased oil transit rates via its main pipelines by 8.3% on 1 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Economy Ministry. “On 1 February the oil transit rates via the main pipelines operated by Gomeltransneft Druzhba and Polotsktransneft Druzhba on the territory of Belarus have been increased by 8.3% over 2011 in Russian rubles,” the press service informed. The rates were set by Provision No.6 “Concerning Rates on Oil Transportation via Pipelines in the Republic of Belarus” and Provision No.7 “Concerning Rates on Oil Transportation via Pipelines of Gomeltransneft Druzhba and Polotsktransneft Druzhba across the Republic of Belarus” signed by the Belarusian Economy Ministry on 17 January 2012. The provisions were adopted in line with the Belarus-Russia intergovernmental agreement on oil transportation of 20 July 1992. There are two oil transportation operators in Belarus: Gomeltransneft Druzhba and Polotsktransneft Druzhba. The former operates the southern line of the Druzhba pipeline to deliver Russian and Kazakh transit oil via Belarus to Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Czechia, and supplies Russian and Belarusian oil to Mozyr Oil Refinery. Polotsktransneft Druzhba operates the northern line of the Druzhba pipeline to deliver Russian oil to the Belarusian oil refinery Naftan. The pipelines operated by Polotsktransneft Druzhba can be used to transit oil to the Baltic states.
